Sidegrade, in World of Warcraft terms, refers to an item that is not a clear upgrade to your existing item, but may have some situational use.
In the context of this site, Sidegrade is just a name. I wanted to a place to post some thoughts, opinions, and maybe even a few rants about the World of Warcraft, other MMOs, and gaming in general; this name is my way of saying that my way of thinking is not any better than anyone else's, but could be useful situationally.
I'm a long time player (since beta) of World of Warcraft, an online multiplayer RPG. In WoW, I've been a guild leader and a hardcore raider, and have found a fairly nice "in between" area for now. I've also played several other MMO games, and generally enjoy studying the theory behind them and the development that goes into them. Currently, I'm playing an Alliance Priest in a semi-end-game raiding guild (meaning, we're not killing Illidan yet, but its he's in sight), so I'm sure some of my posts will be class and boss-specific.
Note that I'm being sort of intentionally vague with my identity (my character name is not Sidegrade!). It's not that I'm really hiding it, I would just prefer to approach this from an impersonal angle. There's nothing secret to be posted here, no wild profane rants about my situation, and frankly if someone was truly interested I'd share my game name with them. My goal is not to keep a personal diary here, though at times I will post some things that are directly related to my in-game character, but rather to offer a view and opinions "from above".
I hope you enjoy the site, and feel free to comment and add your opinions.
